CUPE denied intervenor status at Ontario Energy Board hearing into Peterborough Distribution Inc. sale to Hydro One

A union that has spoken up against the impending sale of the local utility to Hydro One has been denied intervenor status in a hearing before the energy regulator — and the president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Ontario calls it “ridiculous.”

A release from the Ontario Energy Board from Wednesday states that CUPE has been denied intervenor status in a forthcoming hearing meant to determine whether the planned sale of Peterborough Distribution Inc. to Hydro One can proceed.

CUPE has insufficient “direct interest” in the matter to warrant intervenor status, the release states.
