Legal Aid, Otonabee Conservation brace for cuts
A local agency that provides legal services to low-income residents says a $133-million cut to Legal Aid Ontario will “disproportionately impact” people in Peterborough because of low incomes and high housing costs here compared to elsewhere in Ontario.
Peterborough Community Legal Centre on King Street, which is funded by Legal Aid Ontario, released a statement on Wednesday saying it is bracing for “deep cuts” that will jeopardize access to legal help for many of the city’s most vulnerable.
